I thought I'd take a few moments to talk about 'bass tone' and what one should focus on while playing the bass in a working band.
First of all remember that all tone is subject to ones' ears! One man's idea of tone can differ from the next especially when it comes to genres of music.
Saying that adding just a touch more treble to your sound rather than having a 'wooly and dull' tone will offer you more definition and clarity.
This small change can help the bass guitar cut through the mix, especially in crowd pub and club gigs when performing in rock or large function bands.
